Psalm 32:7 (NIV)
What does it mean to be free? Free-living does not mean running riot with your life – going from one sensual relationship to another only to leave a trail of hurt, confusion & deceit.
Living like that makes people into donkeys! Stubborn and the only way to correct is yanking the reigns or whipping the mule to bring correction! (v9)
In this psalm we see true freedom contrasted to being an ass!
V3: “When I kept silence…” a picture of living in stubbornness against God really gets us nowhere – physically as well as spiritually!
Yet, the answer to freedom is found in v.5 “then I acknowledged my sin to you… …I will confess my transgressions to the Lord… And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”
When we know our sins forgiven (in Christ) as this scripture tells us we can know his blessings (v1,2), security (hiding place) (v7) and he will bring you into freedom (v5b, 7) – may take time to walk it out as He instructs you inHis ways (v8), you are made righteous before God (v11) – points to what Jesus has done on the cross!
Don’t be a Donkey today! Live in the freedom!
