If life was like the “Sound of Music” we’d be bursting into song just about every conversation. Can you imagine walking down your corridor at school or on the way to the bosses office and then suddenly bursting into song and before you know it everyone is joining in?!? Well, yes that would be pretty bizarre and of course we all know musicals are a tab unreal in that respect!
Yet we all love to sing – parties, football match, in the shower… There’s something about lifting our voices in song that puts a joy in our spirit.
Consider, to sing is a form of worship and we are all designed to worship something! For the best fulfilment as this verse reminds us is to sing out to God – proclaiming his faithfulness, being thankful with a new song in your heart today!
What is your ‘new song’ today? Will you allow yourself to bring before God this day perhaps a song of thanks or a new focus/direction He is leading you in – like in a musical, to sing is life, let your life today be like a song of praise and thanks to God. That new song is also not just a whim but something we give with our whole heart (play skilfully) brings joy to the heart of Father God!
If you can’t think of anything just sing a simple song that expresses thanks to a God who loves you very much – even if you can’t feel it, allow him to soak you in it!
