Psalm 62:1 (NLT), Psalm 62:7 (NLT), Psalm 62:9 (NLT), Psalm 62:11-12 (NLT)
Does it sometimes feel that everything going on around you is trying to bring your downfall? Perhaps its job security or lack of it, a boss not treating you fair or just so-called-friends or family giving you a hard time?
Do you know your God? I mean really know Him? As someone you can run to for safety?
Lets consider the ‘bad news’ first:
This Psalm is written most likely by King David. All around him ‘common people’ (v7) were trying to bring him down from his position – discredit, say one thing but do something completly different. Jesus said too that you will face hardships, battles and the enemey the devil seeks out looking for who he can discredit – his tactics well are not exactly kind! As i said to the kids church on Sunday – you have authority to stamp on him under your feet – do it once and be done with it – dont give him any credit or time – he’s not worth it!
Ok so now the good news!
V1/ quietly wait for God to act – know that your salvation comes from him! Get the picture! In quiet patience waiting know he has you in the palm of his hand! In other words know your place is not in the things of this world but in the fact you belong to Him!
V2/ God is your sure Security! Make him your home run to him for safety! Also in v5&6,
V8/ Trust him at all times – listen to what God says about your situation, pour out your heart to him!
V9/ dont listen to what people are saying about you! Get in that place with God – your shelter, strong tower and listen to him today!
V11,12/ hear God’s word for you! Once he has spoken trust him to act – his love will sustain you!
Of course this isnt to say that you just sit quietly and say nothing, but in that sitting quietly before him, secondly getting wise council from trusted friends he will give you the way to act. Most importantly know your place as a child of God that you can call him Father!
Perhaps you’re not in that place? Ok, ask Him to show you his love and care for you revealing to you how much you mean to Father God its why Jesus came – he is the way, the truth and the life to lead you to Father God! john 14:6
