Psalm 65:2-6 (NIV), Psalm 65:8-9 (NIV), Psalm 65:13 (NIV), Isaiah 6:5 (NIV), Romans 10:9 (NIV), 1 John 1:9 (NIV)
Reading this psalm this morning a song comes to mind, “It is the cry of my heart to be loved by you…. All the days of my life!”
Yet how much do we really know it? Often it is all to easy to wallow in self-pity or say to ourselves, “woe is me I am a man of unclean lips” and that is as far as we go – sulking in our short comings!?!
However this is NOT the reality! The reality is that today you can know your sins’ forgiven! Isaiah didnt stop after expressing Woe is me… But when the Lord cleansed him – he was sent out! What for? To bring hope & joy to people in darkness!
V3 is key in todays passage! When you feel overwhelmed by you sin, your failings, then it is time to take stock and realise you can come to Jesus and know real forgiveness! V2: just come!
Now look at this psalm again! Look for the characteristics of a forgiven life!
(the New Living Translation is helpful here)
Joy, intemacy come near to God! (v4)
God is faithfully answering your prayers – with awesome deeds! (Wow!) (v5)
Hope for everyone on earth – spread the hope! (v5)
See his wonders – inspiring shouts of joy! (v8)
God will provide – in the sustaining river of God (v9) there’s plenty of water!
Take a look at the passage yourself I’m sure you will find more!
Are you living a forgiven life? The bible says all you need to do, is “confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and you will be saved” Ro. 10 v 9. And in 1 John 1:9, “if we confess our sin to him He (Jesus) is faithful and just and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness” in other words from then on you’re living a forgiven life, not characterized by sin but the life of Jesus himself – live in that!
Rejoice! The cry of your heart is for love! Real love comes from the Father, ask him today to help you live a forgiven life!
