Psalm 95:1 (NLT), Psalm 95:2 (NLT), Psalm 95:6 (NLT), Psalm 95:7 (NLT), Psalm 95:8 (NLT), Psalm 95:9 (NLT)
I wonder what is your rock in your life?
What is it that you are putting all your faith and trust in this journey called life?
There are two comparisions to drawer in this psalm:
1. depending on the temporary – world’s value system, or:
2. depending fully and wholeheartedly on God
I found myself in a gadget shop in town yesterday and one totally useless gadget amused me, a usb pet rock! All you do is plug it into your usb port and … well it doesn’t actually do anything! all it does is waste and use up one of your usb ports on your computer!
This scripture (v1-2) talks about depending on the rock of our salvation! With joyfull noise and thankfulness!
Are you depending on The Rock today! His name is Jesus! Or are you wasting your time on a ‘fake rock’ like the usb pet rock that doesn’t actually do anything just uses your resources and energy of your pc!
Compare the characteristics of depending on God:
v4-5 – know your creator, don’t compromise v6-7 – acknowledge your creator – listen to his voice!
to the characteristics of forgetting Creator God or plainly ignoring Him!
v8-9, rebellion, hard hearts – that is basically pride – even though you’ve tasted and seen all he’s done!
v10-11, God’s grace waits but not indefinately – the bible talks often about Now is the time to come to God because if you leave it too late you face his judgement
Today, not if, but when you hear his voice don’t let pride get in the way, acknowledge your creator today – thank him for the good things he’s given you and let him fill you with His joy and walk in it!
He is your Rock! will you let him today?
acknowledge who he is and what he’s done in your life!
