Considering the openng verse of this song, some translations use the words, “wonderful” or “marvelous” things as the reason why we would sing to the Lord for what he’s done. A more literal translation may well be, “miraculous” the extra-ordinary things of the LORD, that is YAWEH who is I AM.
Today, his desire is and always has been to reveal his miraculous deeds he’s both done in history but equally that of which his desire is He desires to do today!!!!
Reflect for a while on God’s name, Yaweh, means “I AM” surely with the very mention of his name what comes to mind relating to your life, your situation, your community, church and the world!?!
He is, was and is to come!
v2-3 Yaweh, the I AM has made known to all people the way to know relationship with himself! Wow! He has uncovered his ‘righteousness for the nations to see’ GWT and v3 he has not forgotton to be ‘fathful and merciful… … (that) all the earth have seen (and will see) how our God [I AM] saves them’ in other words, brings them into a loving relationship with Himself (fellowship) !!
The only response to that must be then (v4-6) shouts of joy… singing… making music… anouncing I AM is here!!! not just in a wimpy unconvincing way (v7) but with a thunderous roar!
It amazes me just how much the Church wimps away from standing up to injustice, hiding in a corner – hey look here! we have the great I AM on our side!!!! He is.. He IS! HE IS!!!! just.. fair.. on your side!
RISE UP CHURCH! “I AM” IS ON OUR SIDE! DON’T BE SHY… DON’T BE A WIMP… “I AM” IS WITH US!
