How do we react when we hear Conspiracy Theory? Do we shout ‘conspiracy’ and join in with the discussion, do we go along with it or just ignore it? Whilst there maybe an element of truth in these theories , at the end of the day there will be many conflicting theories which mostly distract us from the most important thing: that is how we respond to God’s word and His authority!
Conspiracy theory – we’ve heard a lot this last year and it seems to never end with a continuous supply of often conflicting theories! Lets face it, this will always be the case, last few years its been covid, and no doubt now many will rise amidst the Russia unjust war in Ukraine? Yet who are we to judge? As the bible says let God be judge and every man a liar! (Romans 3:4)
It is all to easy to hear different so called conspiracy and allow that to be the focus of our attention which in turn could lead one to fear the consequences of the future!
The fear of the LORD leads to life;
Proverbs 19:23 (NIVUK)
then one rests content,
untouched by trouble
Instead. Know this! It is the LORD we fear in the sense He is a big God, commands the armies of heaven, so He deserves our respect! After all the Lord is the Alpha & Omega He knows the beginning from the end and in Him all things hold together!
Therefore don’t merely listen to what people are saying, taking on board subsequent fear that comes with it, but instead learn to trust in a Holy God who has your back! Reach out to Him today. The bible says, about Jesus, cast all your cares, your worries on to Him for He cares for you!
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6 (NIVUK)
At the end of the day what does God require? There is so much God’s word has to say how we should live and let remember just how much of the Old Testament is a model of how we should live in community and Jesus spoke into this especially where the letter of the law (external) became more important than the heart response (internal). Act justice, Love Mercy. Walk humbly with your God (see Micah 6:8)
My prayer today is not to listen to theories we hear on the news whether its about vaccines, governments etc which ultimately lead to fear of the future but instead to come to the foot of the cross and to hear His voice drawing me to intimacy with the Father through Christ Jesus. Amen.
