Environment: What gives?

Imagine I am holding a bucket, in the bucket is my stuff and the bucket is open for people to take what they want. However, I’m also standing over it so people are also free to ask me what I can give them.

Enviroment, psalm 24

”The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;“
Psalm 24:1 (NIV)

The Lord woke me the other night with the question on my heart — The Environment, what does God think?

What came back to me surprised me, the Lord said, no one asks me they just take!

God’s word clearly says from genesis that we have a creator God, who formed everything we see, feel and touch! The psalmist writes in psalm 24:1 that the earth is the Lord’s including all who live in it – so why do we not enquire of the Lord when it comes to looking after our environment?!?

The picture of me holding a bucket in the same way imagine Creator God who has the earth in his hands. He instructs us to take care of the earth but all humankind does is take, rather than enquiring of the God who created the Heavens & the earth!

Today, I wonder what difference it would make if we together asked the Lord regarding Environmental care, global warming the plastic we throw away that ends up in our oceans?

How might Creator God call us to make a difference?

Do we live knowing that the Lord holds everything together, that we can also ask him, through Christ Jesus Father God desires a living relationship with us.

Imagine then, in the beginning when God created Adam & Eve, they were together in the garden called Eden, God walking in the cool of the day looking for fellowship with Adam & Eve, but they were hiding cause they did what they were told not too!

Sin so spoils the relationship we could have with our creator. Yet He didn’t leave us in that position of being separated from God, instead Jesus went to the cross, died, and God who loved the world so much, rose Jesus from death so that Sin that separates and spoils the relationship He desires with us, is repaired!

Wow, imagine Creator God holding the world together, with you in it! He loves you and you matter to Him that he desires a friendship with you today!

Yes Environmental issues matter, but let’s approach the issues with the one who holds it all together rather than in isolation.

Richie has been working with young people since 1992, in a variety of contexts, and in 2000 graduated from Moorlands College with a BA degree in Applied Theology/Youth & Community work with National accreditation (UK). Since then he has been involved in pioneering youth work as a Youth & Children’s worker in Berkshire, training and mentoring youth workers as a field work tutor for Centre for Youth Ministry, Oxford as well as engaging in local church work. Richie moved to Ireland in the autumn of 2008 to work primarily for Spirit Radio Ireland in as the Operations Support Manager, as well as presenting a regular Saturday show and makes features and contributions to programming.
