Biblical references: Job 2:3; Romans 6:11,22; James 3:7-8; Micah 6:8
So Satan roams the Earth and found Job. Even today after Christ we recognise that Satan and his Demons still roam the Earth looking for Saints to destroy.
What does God say of his saints, to the enemy, he is in your power only spare his life! Therefore, the enemy has no authority to kill or destroy, even though he may try! In v3 of Job 2 and the Lord said to Satan have you considered my servant Job? “He’s blameless an upright man and turning away from evil.” He has a healthy fear of the Lord recognising that God is holy not by our own fleshly understanding but God is God, because of that, he fleas from evil – James chapter 3 verse 78 says “drawer near to God and he will drawer near to you and the enemy will flee”
Our fight is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers in the heavenly realms. So in all this what does the Lord require with us? Well Malachi 6:8 puts it perfectly —
- Act Justly
- Love Mercy
- And Walk humbly with your God
In Christ we can walk in holiness because our life is no longer characterised by sin but holiness we choose daily to live for Christ. (Romans 6:11 & 22)
Is that not what it means; that we should guard our hearts, as we who are in Christ, that to know that you’re forgiven sets us free from sin & death!
Looking again in Job, even there we see Job with the Lord says that His servant is protected?
So for me in my health struggles at the moment I don’t and will never blame God he is always faithful to me. I recognise my fight is largely in the heavenly realms but take heart because Satan has no authority to destroy life!
Lord help me daily to walk with you to know my sins are forgiven and I am set free from sin and death. The enemy has no hold on me. Amen.
