Observations – a passtime?

Ecclesiastes 4:1 & 5:1

One of my favourite passtimes is to sit, and watch passers by just to observe. People are interesting don’t you think!?!

Imagine King Solomon standing on his palace balcony with a good view of the city and just watching!

I wonder what he saw, perhaps:

  • Beggars on the streets, lonely
  • People going about their business
  • Farmers toiling in the field
  • People going into the temple

It seems to me that through observation King Solomon grew in understanding of what God desires!

Take some time today just to sit with God and observe what’s going on around you? What do you see? Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal his heart for what you see! And perhaps like Solomon you will see something of God’s heart for people!!

Father God, open my eyes today to see the beauty all around me, to observe people through your eyes and give me your compassion as to how I can pray and who I can pray for — Lord bring things to mind as I observe and watch today. In Jesus most precious name, Amen.
