What matters to God?
- Psalms 113:4 (NET)
- Psalms 113:5 (NET)
- Matthew 25:40 (NET)
What is it that matters most to God?
Is it our praise and thanksgiving?
Or perhaps that we should acknowledge who he is?
Sure all these things matter to a point, however the bible is full of examples where God is not interested in our ’empty praise’ where we forget the very purpose of his kingdom on earth!
Consider Israel! A model nation drawing nations to the Living God that was their purpose!
Today through His church how are we drawering the nations to know and experience God’s love?
It seems to me that what is always on Father’s heart is this:
(v7) the poor and the needy seated like princes and princesses
(v9) the barren women to become a happy mother of children
There are many times in scripture God challenges us to look after the widow, the orphan as well as the poor and needy.
“Whatever you do for the least of these you do it for me” Jesus in Matt. 25 v 40
What matters most to God is getting his heart for people around us. I know I fall short so many times – I see, and even have compassion but don’t know what to do – yet I guess if we have a real revelation that God is in heaven, sees everything surely when we receive his heart that must compel us!
Dear Father God,
Help me today to see your heart for people. To act with compassion and mercy even in the small ways – show me Lord today how I can live to express your heart on earth as it is in heaven this day. In Jesus name, Amen.
