When reading Joshua 19, you may find yourself getting a little bored or confused as to why all this detail, perhaps?
Imagine for a few moments: Israel’s escape from egypt, the wanderings in the desert, entering the land eventually after not having their own place for so many years! How much does Father God desire that his people have both a land of their own and a home turf for their family?
For me, I feel that I have been wandering for the last 20 years, I can’t really say that I have a home anywhere, as it seems to me that about every 3 to 5 years God moves me on. Today, as I approach my late 40’s at times I have a desire to maybe settle down into a place I can call mine, or at least to have a home base that I can always come back too!
Not sure I have arrived at that place yet – however, I personally take great comfort from this passage knowing that, it is in Father’s heart to give me that place whether in this life or the next! Consider to Jesus words in John 14:1ff, after the disciples were concerned that Jesus was going away, he told them not to be worried or upset because I am going to prepare a place for you…. Read it for yourself – you’ll get the best room in His house!
So today, if you’re feeling like you’re not sure where you belong, you’re longing for a home of your own, then, take heart! Ask of the Father it is of his desire to give you a good and pleasant land!
