‘But, Lord , you are my shield, my wonderful God who gives me courage.’
Psalms 3:3
How many people do you have in your life that cheer you on, people that encourage you not only in your walk with Jesus but in your life goals & dreams?
‘Many are saying about me, “God won’t rescue him.” Selah I will pray to the Lord , and he will answer me from his holy mountain. Selah I can lie down and go to sleep, and I will wake up again, because the Lord gives me strength.’
Psalms 3:2,5-5
It is good to know we have people around us to encourage us and cheer us on. However, ultimately to know the LORD is a shield around us, who gives us courage – knowing His protection helps gives us strength to face whatever is thrown at us in life!
There are two ways to answer, “God won’t rescue me.” depending on how you see God. The psalmist writes “I will pray to the LORD, and he will answer from his holy mountain.” If you see God as distant on his holy mountain really not interested in you, will you still be motivated to pray? However, if we see God as a loving Father who will indeed “answer me” because he’s interested in you – YES HE IS – then truly as the psalmist writes; “I can lie down and go to sleep, and I will wake up again, because the LORD gives me strength”
Today, consider how you see God. Distant or Interested in you. Meditate on how He is a shield around you giving you courage to face the day.
Dear Lord, Thank you for the courage you give me and help me to give courage to others with my encouragement today. Amen.
