Superhero’s: new creation

Memory verse all-age-talk based on 2 Corinthians 3:17

“If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!”

2 Corinthians 5:17 NCV

Engage: if you were a super hero what would you be? What power would be most appealing? Get one or two kids to act out there power and have congregation guess what it is.

Show images on screen of superheros in there ordinary disguise, along with there hero super ego’s.

Ask. Which of these have super powers? (Answer is of cause all of them)

Lead in: you see the trouble is many of us live in the world of ‘If’ and we say ‘if only i had a million euros’ ‘if only i had an iphone’ ‘if only i did better at school’ ‘if only i had the body and looks of Tom Cruise’ trouble with those statements we end up comparing ourselves and dont go anywhere because God likes you the way you are! And good news…

Put up memory verse: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.”

Application: Here’s an ‘if’ you can trust… you are made new, the old has passed away and the new has come… those if only’s let them pass away because God is making you new. Think differently about yourself. Maybe there are some “if only’s” in you life taking hold? Maybe you are seeing yourself from a human point of view (v16) or ordinary – instead Ask God to help you to see yourself differently as a new creation living In Christ!

Dont be satisfied with just knowing Jesus from a human point of view but instead to realise you are seated with Him in Christ! Whatever situation you are facing right now see yourself as in Christ a new creation. You are a super hero!

My fears were drowned in perfect love!
