Pain is a terrible thing. It totally can immobilise us into feeling that we can do nothing for ourselves!

Why is it however when it comes to be on the receiving end of pain two types of people emerge around us:

  1. Offer advice, ‘words from God’ cause obviously your heart needs to change!
  2. Or as Job longed for from his friends, an encouaging & comforting word!

Of course it is good to pray on all occasions asking the Lord to keep us in His presence and restoring our body before we even get to pain. However that is not always the case, pain hits us and we just feel hopeless, in despair that our voice struggles to pray and even cry out to God for help.

It is why the Lord puts others around us. To pray and offer comforting words. That is, after all, what Job was looking for, but instead in the most part he got their long standing words and prayers justifying their own status before God.

I believe the Lord is more compassionate upon us in our time of need and when we’re in pain he expects people to show they care!

I believe it is also one of the reasons why suffering exists in our world that it may allow human beings to show how much they care for their fellow brothers and sisters!

Another comparison —

If pain is a sign of our need then how much more is sin and separation from God a sign of a redemptive work to bring us back into fellowship with God in Christ?

The trouble is for so many, pain happens in the heart, gets ignored, repeat!

Instead the call to ‘seek the truth’ to search out the path that leads to a right living that brings joy to God’s heart is so often overlooked!

Is it then hardly surprising the scripture says, “Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in times of rebellion” and elsewhere “Today is the day of salvation” — So therefore if you hear God calling on the door of your heart please don’t ignore it, if you’re in pain then the bible promises Holy Spirt is your comforter!

First path on way to know that comfort, is to know your sin is forgiven and you have a friendship with a holy God!

Wow! Lord I am so forever grateful to you because you get me through each day even in pain and suffering in my body I know you are with me. Amen.
