Have you ever wondered what loyalty and boasting has in common?
v5 Jumps out at me in this psalm! A call to boast about those things that mark us (God’s chosen people) that show where you belong!
It’s another psalm calling God’s people to community! Yet looking at the rest of the psalm recounts the failings of God’s people to boast about the wrong things!!!!
v7 – failure to appreciate the miraculous deeds of the living God!!!
What do you value today, or what you are loyal too – that is for sure what you will boast about!!!
After all the failings of the people of God, misplaced loyalty, running after things which hurt the relationship God desired with his people – despite that! v45 beautifully shows just how much despite sometimes our own unloyalty or unfaithfulness, God always remembers his covenant promise and relented because of his “great loyal love”!!
Take heart! Consider what you’re boasting about today! Is it out of a loyalty to:
1. God’s great loyal love for you
2. and a real sense of belonging to the people of God (his Church/community)
Anything else will lead to hurting the relationship between the Lord and each other – take some time today to turn away from misplaced loyalty and receive Father’s love, know your sins are forgiven at the cross of Jesus Christ and thank him for the community of believers He has put you in!
Get connected with a Church, make a choice to find one and get to know His people and together boast in the great things He is doing that the nations may wonder at His mighty deeds and come in!
